Katie Slaton, who appeared on 1000 lb. The sisters alongside her cousins Tammy and Amy Slaton died at the age of 37. The heartbreaking news was confirmed on Tuesday August 26 by Tammy and Amanda Halterman’s sister, who shared an emotional tribute to Instagram.
“It is with a completely crushed heart and mind that I must publish this,” wrote Halterman. “My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force with which it was necessary to count and showed the love that accepted and gave freely. ”
Katie Slaton died on Monday August 25 in Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana, according to her Billology on the Funeral House website Whitsell. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday August 29 at the Whitsell funeral home in Morganfield, Kentucky.

Earlier this year, Katie was diagnosed with a stadium gastric adenocarcinoma, a rare form of stomach cancer. She began to undergo chemotherapy treatments shortly after the diagnosis.

Tammy Slaton also used his Instagram to ask fans of prayers and donations to help the treatment of his cousin. “You are really sorry to ask for a great favor like this, but if someone can help, even if it is a dollar helping my cousin so much,” said Tammy, adding: “Our family discovered that she has cancer.”

Katie appeared on 1000 lb. Sisters, especially in season 5, when Tammy was released from a weight loss rehabilitation center. The TLC series, which follows the life of Tammy and Amy as they sail in difficulty with obesity, has been broadcast since 2020.
