Drishyam 3, with Mohanlal in the main role, has been generating buzz for some time. Now, the veteran superstar of the Malayalam cinema has been associated again with the director Jeethu Joseph for the third episode of the popular franchise, passing the story of Georgekutty at the upper level.
Mohanlal Kickstarts Drishyam 3 with a pooja ceremony
Drishyam 3 officially started his trip on September 22, 2025, with a traditional Pooja ceremony. The manufacturers have shared official images of the lamp lighting ritual on their handful of social media.
The producers also unveiled an overview of the event, presenting Mohanlal alongside the rest of the distribution and the team. In addition to the superstar, the ceremony brought together director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor by Aashirvad Cinemas.
After the sacred lighting of the lamp, the distribution and the crew engaged in a cake cut -off ceremony, celebrating the start of a good omen of the shooting.
About the Drishyam franchise
For those unknown, Drishyam 3 is the next continuation of the popular Drishyam franchise and acclaimed by criticism. The first episode, released in 2013, told Georgekutty’s story, a humble owner of a cable television network living with his wife and daughters in a picturesque village in Kerala.
Known for its frugal lifestyle and its simple nature, the life of Georgekutty takes a dark turn when Varun Prabhakar, son of Ig Geetha Prabhakar, disappears. The family is quickly suspected, and a complex network of secrets takes place.
What will happen to Varun and to what extent will Georgekutty go to protect his family? These questions form the heart of the first episode, which has become a massive theatrical success and was hailed by critics. He was then redone in several languages, notably in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Sinhalese and Chinese Mandarin.
8 years after the release of the original film, Drishaym 2 was presented in 2021 directly on Amazon Prime Video. The film continued Georgekutty’s efforts to protect his family while a new net officer tried to unravel the truth.
Now, four years later, manufacturers return with a third episode, which should be published at the end of 2025 or at the beginning of 2026.
