About Kantara: Chapter 1
Kantara: Chapter 1, with Rishab Shetty in mind, is a prequel to Kantara in 2022. Located centuries before the events of the first film, this episode explores deeper mythological and cultural themes. Jayaram portrays a king of the kingdom of Bangra, offering a nuanced performance and in layers, collecting immense praise.
The film is an epic mythological action drama which takes place under the reign of the Kadamba dynasty. The story begins with the King of Bangra, who, led by madness, seeks to conquer everything on his way. When he discovers a precious bag of spices, he becomes obsessed with his richness and decides to claim it by himself.
However, when entering the forest, the Ganas of Eeshwara, the Daivas, Panjurli and Guliga goalkeeper, demonstrate and kill him.
Years later, his son, Rajashekara, still haunted in the past, became a just and wise sovereign. During his reign, a mysterious child named Berme is inside a sacred well in the forest of the Kantara tribe. Over time, Rajashekara’s son is crowned king, but like his grandfather, he also descends into madness.
The central conflict of the film revolves around the battle between the new king and the Berme fight on the country of the Kantara tribe.
Although rich in action and the show, the film also continues the saga of man’s relationship with nature and the divine.
In addition to Rishab and Jayaram, the film features Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, Pramod Shetty, Naveen D. Padil, Rakesh Poojari, Prakash Thuminad and many others in key roles.
