Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collections: Crosses 400cr In India With Superb Second Friday

Kantara: Chapter 1 started its second week with a stunning Rs. 1,000.24 crore on Friday. With this, the film crossed Rs. 1,999. 400 crore in India, with a nine-day total at Rs. 404 crore approximately. The film is expected to see a surge in collections today, thanks to strong pre-sales, and further growth tomorrow. The second weekend is expected to cross Rs. 100 crore, bringing it closer to Rs. 1,999. 500 crore by Sunday.

The drop from the first Friday is 53 percent, which is a big drop, especially since there was an impact on the holidays last week. The Hindi belt fared the best with a decline of just 40 percent, followed by Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu was down on weekdays but is up again on weekends as the market is generally stronger on weekends. The steepest decline came from the Telugu states, down 75 percent, but that’s to be expected as they are usually busy at the start of the period and the first Friday was significantly boosted by the holidays.

In the home state, Karnataka, the second Friday is once again a record haul at Rs. 1,999. 8.50 crore, almost 80 percent more than KGF 2. The film remains firmly on track to become the highest grosser and the first ever Rs. 200 crore grosser in the state. In fact, the first could occur as early as next Wednesday, while the second should be reached during the third week.
