The ongoing legal dispute over the estate of late businessman Sanjay Kapoor reached the Delhi High Court on Monday, as Sanjay and actress Karisma Kapoor’s children Kiyan Raj Kapoor and Samara Kapoor raised concerns over the authenticity of their father’s will. His legal counsel made strong claims against Sanjay’s widow Priya Sachdev and her stepmother, alleging irregularities in the document.

Kiyan and Samara question validity of Sanjay Kapoor’s will
Kiaan and Samara, represented by senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, filed the case accusing Priya Sachdev of allegedly forging Sanjay Kapoor’s will. According to the legal team, there are several inaccuracies in the will, including a misspelling of Kian’s name and an error in Samara’s address. “These are not small mistakes. Sanjay Kapoor had a close relationship with his children. It is unlikely that he would have misspelled their names or addresses. The nature of the errors raises serious questions about whether the will was actually written or approved by him,” Jethmalani argued in the court.
Legal team suggests only one beneficiary
Although Karisma Kapoor is not the plaintiff in the case, she is reportedly supporting her children through the proceedings. The legal team further claimed that the will appears to benefit only one person—Priya Sachdev—and no other person is listed as a recipient of Sanjay’s estate. “There is no indication that anyone other than the beneficiary prepared the will. If the document is proven to be forged, then only one person could have intended to prepare it in this manner,” Jethmalani said. The court is scheduled to continue the hearing on Tuesday.
Previous allegations against Priya Sachdev
This is not the first time that serious allegations have been made during the controversy. On October 9, Kiyan and Samara reportedly referred to their stepmother in court as “Cinderella’s wicked stepmother”, revealing that they were treated unfairly in the matter of inheritance.
Earlier on September 26, the court had given Priya Sachdev a chance to submit the list of Sanjay Kapoor’s property in a sealed envelope. The court also advised all parties to refrain from sharing sensitive information about the property with the media to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the legal proceedings.
About Sanjay Kapoor and his family
Sanjay Kapoor, former chairman of global automotive components company Sona Comstar, reportedly died of a heart attack in London in June 2025. He was previously married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, and the couple have two children – Samara and Kiyan. In 2017, Sanjay married Priya Sachdev, with whom he remained until his demise.
The estate case is still ongoing, attracting significant interest due to the high-profile nature of the family involved.
