Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, it not only became the highest-grossing anime film in India, but also set new standards for future anime films, earning 8 times more than the previous highest-grossing anime.
For the record, Suzum was the previous record holder, earning Rs. 10 crores in its lifetime in the Indian markets. It currently ranks second among the highest-grossing anime films at the Indian box office. All other anime films including Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Shin Chan: Our Dinosaur Diary, Shin Chan: The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers and others finished their theatrical performances below double-digit figures and ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively.
The list of highest-grossing anime films in India is huge, with Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle earning more than the following twenty films. With the growth in the market, the list is going to become more balanced in the coming years. Its sensational success is likely to pave the way for more Japanese anime with franchises like One Piece, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen and others becoming a more regular fixture in Indian theatres.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle was released in Indian theaters on September 12. The film began its journey at the box office in historic fashion, surpassing the lifetime business of all previous anime films on its first day.
