Kantara: Chapter 1 earned Rs. Collected. After earning Rs 101.75 crore in the opening week in Hindi, it earned Rs 51.50 crore in the second week. The film’s earnings saw a decline of almost 40 percent compared to the previous week, which is a very good catch. It remained good on weekdays, earning an estimated Rs 3.50 crore on second Thursday, which is 5 percent less than Wednesday. Kantara: Chapter 1 running total is Rs. Reached. It earned Rs 153.75 crore at the Hindi box office in 15 days in theatres.
Rishabh Shetty starrer this film is expected to get good growth in the third weekend. Thamma Aur Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is releasing on Tuesday, October 21. With still four days left for release, Kantara: Chapter 1 has earned Rs. There is a possibility of reaching. 175 crore nett figure, surpassing the lifetime earnings of Raid 2, Sitare Zameen Par, Housefull 5 and War 2 in Hindi.
On its opening day, it seemed that the film would touch the Rs 150 crore mark. However, the film has been trending much better since then, avoiding a major decline on weekdays and earning good collections on weekends or holidays, all due to its positive word of mouth. Depending on how it performs after Diwali, the divine saga will go up or down by Rs. 200 crore nett. Currently, the film is on its way to score a double century. The way it’s stood so far, it’s not too optimistic to expect that to happen.
A section of the trade was hoping that Kantara: Chapter 1 would perform like other breakout sequels in South India like Baahubali 2, KGF Chapter 2 and Pushpa 2. However, this did not happen. Still, what the Rishabh Shetty-directed film has achieved so far is excellent, considering it’s a period drama rooted in regional folklore, with no star value and minimal marketing in North India.
