Tamil film Dude took a good start yesterday collecting Rs. Collected Rs. Around 11.25-11.50 crores at the Indian box office. This is the best first day collection of Pradeep Ranganathan’s career, surpassing his previous best of Rs. Earlier this year, Dragon raised Rs 8 crore. The film has earned Rs 10 crore in overseas. 5-5.50 crores, including previews, taking it to Rs. 5.50 crores worldwide on the first day. 16.50-17 crores approx.
The opening in Tamil Nadu is quite similar to that of Dragon, albeit about 15 per cent higher, at around Rs. Approximately 6.25 crores. Karnataka is also almost the same. The jump has come from the Telugu states, where Dude earned Rs. Rs 3.75 crore as against Rs. Dragon’s Rs 1.25 crore. Kerala is also much better than Dragon.
The actual value of this opening is perhaps even better, as there is some pre-Diwali influence in the game. The situation will remain the same during the weekend, but the situation will improve from Diwali on Monday. Generally, the excitement of Diwali lasts for a few days, so the film will benefit from it on weekdays.
Pradeep’s last two films, Love Today and Dragon, fared very strongly and emerged as super hits. Love Today raised Rs. Earned Rs. Less than Rs 60 crore in Tamil Nadu. 3 crore on the first day, while Dragon grossed over Rs. to Rs 75 crore. 5.50 crores.
