They Call Him OG has ended its box office performance. Pawan Kalyan starrer this film has earned around Rs 1 crore in its fourth week. This will probably add a few lakhs to its total. The film is set to release digitally tomorrow, which will mark the formal end of its performance at the box office.
The film is going to close at Rs 10 crore. 219 crores in India. Another Rs. ₹64 crore (USD 7.21 million) from overseas markets, making it a worldwide box office collection of Rs. Has earned. 283 crores. The film has become the highest grossing film for Pawan Kalyan by a wide margin domestically, overseas and worldwide. The film ranks among the top ten highest-grossing films in the Telugu states, and ranks ninth, just behind Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
Pawan Kalyan has been having a long drought at the box office, with his last hit before the film coming more than a decade ago. In fact, considering the way films are judged in the South, the distributors are incurring huge losses, so this film too will not fall in the category of a hit. However, this is an outdated way of judging films and even more so when the prices paid by these distributors are unreasonable.
Basically, the film, like most other big films, was sold at the blockbuster level of business, and when it only does hit or super hit level business, they suffer losses, and the film is seen as a flop, which is ridiculous. The distributor needed OG to collect the money. Rs 240-250 crore hit in Telugu states. The film has earned around Rs 2 crore. 200 crores in Telugu states, which is super hit level business or at least a hit.
Foreign distributors have benefited significantly because the rights were acquired a few years ago at what would be a discounted rate today.
