Famous singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan has marked another milestone in his personal life, this time by purchasing a luxurious new MG M9 electric MPV worth Rs 80.33 lakh. The musician, known for over 7,000 songs in multiple languages, welcomed the car in true celebratory style – surrounded by family, traditional music and lively festivities.

A video shared by celebrity photographer Viral Bhayani shows Mahadevan performing a traditional puja for his latest acquisition. The festivities included playing of brass tundi musical instrument and bursting of firecrackers as a symbolic welcome. The family looked in high spirits as they posed with the car, highlighting the singer’s deep cultural ties and festive spirit.
The MG M9, MG’s flagship premium MPV, is equipped with presidential seats that offer 16-way adjustment, massage, heating and ventilation functions. The vehicle also features dual sunroof, ambient lighting, 13-speaker premium sound system and advanced EV capabilities. It claims a range of 548 km on a single charge and supports fast charging that powers the battery from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes, making it a tech-advanced option for Indian celebrities.
Recently, Mahadevan played the lead role in Asia’s largest Bollywood music festival, Bollywood Music Project, held at Jio World Gardens, Mumbai. His three-hour set also included co-stars Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa as well as his sons Siddharth and Shivam Mahadevan, presenting his legacy and musical prowess on one of the most dynamic platforms in the industry. The festival also saw a range of renowned artistes such as Anu Malik, Baba Sehgal, Kunal Ganjawala and Salim-Sulaiman Merchant.
