Karan Johar is set to represent Indian cinema at the Marrakech International Film Festival this year by joining the festival’s famous Conversation Series – a segment reserved for some of the most influential filmmakers from around the world. The 2025 lineup includes renowned names like Bong Joon Ho, Guillermo del Toro, Andrew Dominic, Laurence Fishburne and Jodie Foster, placing Johar alongside some of the most respected voices of global cinema.
Karan Johar to lead Moroccan International Film Festival’s Conversation Series; Homebound secures gala screening
This recognition has come amidst strong international competition homeboundWhich has been selected for the grand screening at the festival. The selection marks another milestone in the film’s growing global journey and highlights Johar’s growing international footprint as a producer.
Just a day before the festival announcement, Karan shared an update about this on social media. of homebound The momentum continues around the world. She wrote, “The journey of #Homebound around the world continues – this time in LA, attended the screening with Netflix’s Chief Content Officer @bellabazaria, cast and crew! So grateful and thrilled you could be there for our film Bella.”
Johar has repeatedly expressed how deeply personal the journey of the film has been. In September, ahead of its release, he posted a heartfelt note reflecting on the film’s path to international festivals. He wrote:
“When I started my journey of telling stories and making motion pictures… my biggest cause was to empower filmmakers and make them sell their dreams and ideologies to cinemagoers around the world… I dreamed of making films that transcend borders, cultures and continents… expression triumphed… ideas became a film… that film is homebound… Neeraj Ghaywan is a writer with a beating heart and an investigative soul… he is soul and all Homebound… They have told this story in the most emotionally rich way and I am humbled, grateful and privileged to be able to proudly share that I am the producer of this brilliant film!!
