The world of The Hunger Games is returning to the big screen once again! The first glimpse of several characters from the series’ upcoming sixth installment, The Hunger Games: Sunrise at the Reaping, was revealed on November 20. It featured the lead character of Haymitch Abernathy at the center of the story, played by Joseph Zada and previously played by Woody Harrelson in the original The Hunger Games film. The recently released trailer gives the first reveal of several key characters of the story.

The trailer shows how, during the 50th Hunger Games, which marks the second Quarter Quell, meaning double the tribute from each district of Panem, Joseph Zada’s Haymitch Abernathy is chosen to represent the 12th District. He has to protect himself and his teammates to keep his family and girlfriend safe at home. A fierce battle begins as President Coriolanus Snow watches chaos spread once again. The Hunger Games: Sunrise at the Reaping is a sequel to the film The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, released in 2023, and a prequel to the original film The Hunger Games, released in 2012. It is based on the 2025 novel Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins.
Francis Lawrence is all set to reprise his role as the films director, with most of the film being shot in Spain among other locations. The Hunger Games: Sunrise at the Reaping will be released in the United States and Canada on November 20, 2026.
