Zootopia 2 remained steady on its 7th day, and collected Rs. Collected. 85 lakhs to tally. The animated film collected Rs. 5,000 in its opening week. Earned Rs 12.25 crore at the Indian box office. Although it had a slow start, it somehow managed to show a steady hold over the weekdays.
Animated films have a niche audience in India, although some sequels to well-received films like Frozen 2, Incredibles 2, Spider-Verse 2 have managed to earn some numbers. Compared to recent Hollywood animated sequels, Zootopia 2 is following the trajectory of Inside Out 2 and Moana 2. While the first one also completed its opening week in the same category, Moana 2 collected Rs. Earned 15 crores in the first week in India. Inside Out 2 and Moana 2 made Rs. Earned more than. 30 crores from a similar beginning. That’s what Zootopia 2 can do and will aim to do.
Although the film is not doing well in India, it is making waves at the box office in other global markets, especially China. The film grossed over US$315.4 million at the Chinese box office in its nine-day theatrical run, while its worldwide box office collection is slightly less than US$650 million. The animated film is sure to cross the US$1 billion mark. In fact, it even has the potential to claim the top spot among Hollywood releases.
