Suriya has started his next film, tentatively titled Suriya 47, with a puja ceremony on December 7, 2025. The actor has now shared a video from the event, officially marking the auspicious beginning of the shoot.

In a video shared online, Suriya was seen with the core team and several celebrities as he began work on his new film. He was accompanied by his wife Jyothika and brother Karthi as well as producers Rajasekhar Pandian, SR Prakash and SR Prabhu.
The upcoming film will be produced by Suriya under the banner of his new production company, Jhagaram Studios.
The film tentatively titled Suriya 47, directed by Jeetu Madhavan after the success of Romancham and Aavesham, is being touted to be a police action-comedy film. With Nazriya Nazim Fahadh as the co-lead, actors Naslane, John Vijay, Anandraj and others are expected to play important roles.
Reportedly, the technical crew of the film has been retained from Mohanlal’s shelved project with the same director. Composer Sushin Shyam, a frequent collaborator of Jeethu, joined as music director marking his debut in Tamil cinema.
Surya’s work front
Suriya last played the lead role in Retro, a romantic action film directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film, co-starring Pooja Hegde, was released on May 1, 2025 and received mixed to positive reviews from critics. It is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
Looking ahead, the actor will next be seen in the fantasy action entertainer Karuppu. Directed by RJB (RJ Balaji), the film is based on the story of a lawyer who gets possessed by the deity Karuppu to deliver justice.
Along with Trisha Krishnan in the lead role, the film also stars Indrans, Naty Subramaniam, Swasika, Shivada, Anagha Maiya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy and many others in lead roles. Sai Abhyankar works as a musician. However, the release date and OTT partner are yet to be confirmed.
Additionally, the actor has Suriya 46 in the lineup, directed by Lucky Baskar filmmaker Venky Atluri. Along with Ayan starrer, the film stars Raveena Tandon and Mameetha Baiju in co-lead roles.
