Nick Jonas says Malti was given blood transfusion 6 times at birth

Malti Mary Chopra Jonas is the love of Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s life. While she fills their lives with love and laughter, the four-year-old’s birth wasn’t easy. Speaking to Jay Shetty, Nick revealed that they were expecting their daughter in April, but she arrived in January 2022.

“She was born via a surrogate. We went to the hospital, and she came out 1 pound, 11 ounces and basically purple,” the father recalled with tears in his eyes. Calling the nurses in the NICU “angels,” an emotional Nick shared that they revived and cared for his little girl. Nick further recalled that this was happening when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. So, he and his wife worked approximately 12-hour shifts at the hospital every day for the next three and a half months.

“I can still smell it; there’s always visceral stuff in there,” the international singing sensation said, adding that it was both comforting and scary to be there every day. But thankfully, his daughter Malti, who is a warrior, kept fighting every day for the next few months and gradually her weight started increasing. Nick Jonas said, “After six blood transfusions, she was doing great. We took her home after 3.5 months.”

The love story of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas is now well known. After dating for some time, they got married in traditional Hindu and Christian ceremonies in Jodhpur in December 2018. A few years later, they had a baby girl named Malti Marie Chopra Jonas through surrogacy.
