Famous comedian Rajpal Yadav, who has been making us laugh for decades, has gone to jail in a check bounce case of just Rs 2.5 crore.
“There is no other way, no friend,” Rajpal Yadav said before surrendering before Tihar Jail authorities.
Rajpal surrendered before Tihar Jail authorities in Delhi on Thursday after the Delhi High Court refused to grant any relief in the check-bounce case. The actor had sought extension of the deadline for his surrender. The request was rejected.
When this writer asked the genuinely kind and generous Rajpal about his plight, he sadly said, “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahi hain (Sir, what should I do? I don’t have the money to pay back). And there doesn’t seem to be any solution.”
When this writer asked him why he didn’t ask his ultra-rich friends like Priyadarshan, who has worked with Rajpal in dozens of films and earns more than Rs. 20 crores per film – Rajpal said, “Sir, we are all alone here. There are no friends here. I have to deal with this crisis on my own.”
