Salman Khan’s much-anticipated patriotic war drama Battle of Galwan has officially been pushed to a new release window. According to exclusive information obtained by IHNS, the film will now arrive in theatres on August 14, 2026, aligning with India’s Independence Day weekend.
Earlier reports had suggested that the film may not meet its previously planned April 17 release date, and the update quickly sparked discussions among fans and industry insiders. Now, sources close to the project have confirmed that the shift was a strategic decision rather than a creative setback.
A source told IHNS, “Battle of Galwan has indeed been postponed and will now release on August 14, 2026. Salman Khan and the producers strongly believe that an Independence Day release is ideal for a film rooted in patriotism. With national sentiment running high around August 15, the film will resonate strongly with audiences during this period.”
The source further added that an official announcement from the makers is expected soon.
Earlier, IHNS had reported that the delay stemmed from ongoing production work. “The shoot is not fully complete yet, and reshoots are taking longer than initially anticipated. A week-long schedule is currently underway at the Golden Tobacco Factory in Mumbai, beginning February 9. A few additional days of shooting will follow, with principal photography expected to wrap by the end of February,” a source had revealed.
Post-production is also expected to be extensive. Director Apoorva Lakhia will begin editing the reshot portions once filming concludes. Additionally, as per protocol, the film must be screened for the Defence Ministry, a process that could further extend timelines.
“Salman Khan is clear that a patriotic film of this scale should not be rushed. He wants the team to take the necessary time to ensure the final output is visually grand, emotionally impactful, and authentic,” the source added.
Interestingly, Battle of Galwan will now face box-office competition from Kartik Aaryan’s Nagzilla, which is also slated for a similar release window.
