As per estimates, Shahid Kapoor and Trupti Dimri starrer O’Romeo, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, collected Rs 8 crore on its first Sunday. After seeing a good growth on Valentine’s Day, the film’s earnings declined by almost 30 percent. A major reason for Sunday’s decline will be the India vs Pakistan cricket match.
O’Romeo’s running cume is around Rs. It is estimated to happen. Earned Rs 27.50 crore at the Indian box office (total Rs 33 crore). Backed by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment on a heavy budget, the action romantic drama earned around US$1.3 million overseas, which is approx. Rupee. 12 crores. This brought its worldwide total to Rs. 15,000 in the opening weekend. 45 crores, which is not a very encouraging figure for such an expensive film.
While these days light-hearted rom-com films tend to be in this range, this film leans more towards the darker and thriller side, which is considered less commercial, so it’s not a bad result, just the economics don’t fit. Still, if Shahid Kapoor’s film can maintain its performance and keep ticking at the box office even during the slow period until Dhurandhar: The Revenge arrives next month, it will be counted as a minor positive.
Now all eyes are on O’Romo’s catch Monday. If it manages to pass the Monday test and hold on strongly on weekdays, it may reach a respectable figure by the end of its theatrical run.
The box office collection of O Romeo is as follows:
