In an announcement that took all his fans by surprise, composer AR Rahman announced that he will be on digital detox for 40 days. The announcement was made at a live concert in Chennai.

According to an insider, the break is meant to give the musician breathing space to complete his work on the ambitious Ramayana Project.
“Namit Malhotra-Nitesh Tiwari have a big program Ramayana Coming in March 2026 in which all the cast and technicians of the film will be announced to the public. Rahman has to complete his work before that incident. He will work at a faster pace than usual to meet the deadline,” said a source.
This is Rahman’s first active stay away from the public eye in his entire career as a musician.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash and Sunny Deol play the roles of Lord Ram, Sita, Ravana and Lord Hanuman respectively. This film will be released in two parts and the first part will be released in Diwali this year.
