One of the most awaited sports dramas, filmmakers Vikramaditya Motwane and Luv Ranjan, along with Ankur Garg, are gearing up to bring Sourav Ganguly’s biopic on the floors this March. The film, starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead, will be shot in two of cricket’s most iconic venues – Lord’s Cricket Ground and Eden Gardens.
A source close to the development reveals, “The makers have identified Lord’s and Eden Gardens as prime locations to authentically recreate the defining chapters of Ganguly’s cricket career. Lord’s, often referred to as the Mecca of Cricket, holds historical significance in Ganguly’s journey and hence the makers have decided to shoot at real locations.”
A source shared, “Motwane and Luv Films are keen to make the biopic on a large scale. Shooting in real locations has always been part of the vision. Permissions are being worked out, and the team is planning to start filming in March across various locations like Kolkata, Mumbai and London.”
Rajkummar Rao, known for his transformative performances, has already started preparing for the role and the former Indian captain is expected to undergo intensive cricket training to rope in him. The film aims to chronicle Ganguly’s on-field heroics and lasting impact on Indian cricket.
With two famous cricket venues as the primary shooting locations and a strong creative team at the helm, Sourav Ganguly’s biopic is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious sports films in recent times. Stay connected with IHNS for more casting details.
