The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond It is all set to release this Friday, February 27, and it has managed to create quite a stir on social media due to its shocking and controversial content. Typically, such films often contain disturbing content and as a result, they are meant for adults to watch only. Therefore, it came as a surprise to the trade and industry that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the film with a U/A 16+ certificate.

However, the CBFC asked for 16 cuts or modifications to the film. Firstly, the kissing scenes were reduced by 50%. In short, the lip-lock scene was shortened by 7 seconds. Similarly, the visuals of the rape scene were also reduced by 50 percent i.e. 20 seconds. Two scenes – one of a woman being slapped and the other of a woman being hit on the head – were both reduced by 2 seconds.
The scenes of the accused’s house being demolished with a bulldozer were asked to be modified. Three dialogues were modified at three different places, while one word was asked to be muted. However, no details of these are available in the cut list.
The producers were instructed to add a disclaimer that the film was based on true events. The duration of the static text, possibly a disclaimer, was asked to be increased to 2 minutes and 3 seconds with voice over. The producers were asked to submit the script as per the script dialogue and submit proper documentation for the true incident depicted in the film. Eventually a memorandum of understanding was submitted to the CBFC to cast a small cast in the film.
Once these changes were made, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond The censor certificate was handed over on 16 February. The length of the film as mentioned on the censor certificate is 131.24 minutes. In other words, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond 2 hours, 11 minutes and 24 seconds long.
The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond Produced by Vipul Shah and directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh. It stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha in lead roles. It will be released in theaters on 27th February.
