Assi box office collection: Taapsee Pannu’s courtroom drama adds Rs 70 lakh in third weekend, nears dramatic end

Directed by Anubhav Sinha and starring Taapsee Pannu in the lead role, ‘Assi’ collected Rs. With Rs 70 lakh in its third weekend. 25 lakhs are coming on Sunday. The courtroom drama grossed Rs. Earned ₹9.65 crore at the Indian box office in 17 days of theatrical run.

Produced by Banaras Mediaworks and T-Series Films, Assi is looking to wrap up its entire theatrical run very soon, with the arrival of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge. Based on the current trends, the Taapsee Pannu starrer is expected to end its box office journey with Rs. Net mark of 10-11 crores. With such a disappointing theatrical performance, the Anubhav Sinha directorial turned out to be a box office flop.

As said, the business of such small/medium sized films has gone down severely in the post-pandemic period. Audiences now prefer to watch movies with no expectations only on digital platforms, as they now have enough patience to wait for 8 weeks. To save the dying business of small/medium sized films, producers need to break this patience and extend the OTT window by about 6 months.
