Through music, oral history and everyday practices, the series explores themes of heritage, resilience and identity, celebrating a creative spirit that is as ancient as it is alive.
Speaking about the collaboration, Adarsh Gaurav said, “The main reason I said yes to this project was the opportunity to get to know the cultures of the Northeast in a way that felt intimate and profound. Through this unique series, I have been able to connect closely with the local communities, taste their cuisine, listen to their stories and learn about the history of their tribes through direct intimate interactions. And for me, this experience in itself is priceless.”
He added, “Collaborating with Edstad was another important factor, they are known for championing stories that really matter, and knowing that the project was supported by them gave me a huge sense of reassurance. I have a real hunger to understand the people of my own country, about whom I admit I know very little. While I love traveling and exploring off the beaten track, I don’t think I would have had access to some of these communities without this series. “Ultimately showcasing these experiences on such a widely accessible platform also makes it a powerful educational tool.”
Created and crafted as a cinematic factual narrative by Adstead’s Charu Budhiraja, The Tribal Voice is presented by Air India Express, with Dentsu Sports & Entertainment as integration partner. The series is currently in production, with premiere details to be announced.
