Nora Fatehi-Sanjay Dutt song controversy: Rakshita questions ‘selective outrage’ as ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarkar’ controversy deepens
Amid the growing uproar, former actress Rakshita, who is married to the film’s director Prem, has addressed the controversy through a series of Instagram notes. Without directly defending the content, Rakshita raised questions about what she called “selective outrage”, pointing to previous Bollywood songs and films that explored similar themes but did not attract comparable criticism.
He wrote, “Yes yes I have seen it all. I know you guys are tagging me in random people’s posts. The fact is I know what has been written. I know what is happening. My stance is whether I am for it or against it, it doesn’t matter, when songs like Peelings, Dreamum Wakeupam, Choli Ke Peche or 100 such songs came out it felt okay. When an entire film was talking about that How the actors talked about having sex throughout the movie seemed okay, but a song makes massive news, still not fair, just asking so I can understand it.
Addressing her husband’s criticism she said, “When people talk about a particular director, and then talk badly about his films… the same people who love him, it’s definitely not a good feeling… But that doesn’t mean that how talented he is is questioned… Wrong… Just because he wrote other beautiful songs,,, more than one song, doesn’t mean he’s a terrible writer or does everything for gimmicks..??? Wrong”.
Rakshita also stressed on the difference between criticism and abuse. “Just because some films don’t perform well than others, doesn’t mean he is a bad filmmaker… Wrong… Do you have the right to question him, yes, do you have the right to ask him, yes, do you… Do you have the right to abuse him,??? No, you don’t… When you abuse him or spit badly on him like some random woman saying it was personal..?? What was that… Kannada N Aurige Mantra Arrogance Was fasting, Tappu.
Calling for respectful discourse, she wrote, “I love my language and people even more than that, I am sure… Just because someone is abroad, they like it more, Anta Allah, but when people talk about a person in public… Shouldn’t we have some basic knowledge of how to talk, we are always in the public light… We are questioned… We are made fun of… Only love,,, even if I step out anywhere So I see some random people comment badly about me…yappa blah blah and what….yeah workers come out and say…don’t talk about Rakshita like that, no, never.”
She also addressed the broader context of content consumption, “Songs are made everyday… bad, good, provocative, special numbers… yes yes all of them… today people are watching films with more bloodshed… sexual content in films… everything very openly… Prem is a Kannada like all of you… you all have the right to her, to question her, to tell her what is right and what is not… You guys can ask her what you want… but you can say anything on her past. Work on that He pretended to tell me something.
Highlighting the challenges faced by the Kannada film industry, he shared, “Today, selling a film to an OTT, selling a film to a channel is the biggest challenge for a Kannada director and producer in today’s market… No matter how much promotion one does… it finds it extremely difficult to reach any heights or even close to other cinema markets… Other languages, even ours, it is a very tough task to get them into theatres, it’s just not our story. Yes, this is very much Chandan’s film…”
Defending her husband’s promotional approach, she further said, “Prem has achieved this… with its own kind of promotion… with its own kind of gimmicks” as some people say after the audience has come to the theater… We have the right to tell you whether you guys liked it or not… We accept it wholeheartedly, and work hard to make the next film even better… Just for you guys… I value your opinion, I love you guys. I do… We are nothing without you guys, and that applies to every actor… But being disrespectful or speaking bad about someone shows another reality on social media… How some people can harbor despair… and others can get carried away.”
Sharing her personal experience with online trolling, Rakshita said, “I am always trolled for my body… I am talked about badly… but I am loved by all of you too… as much as I love you guys… we have looked into everything… and everything will be taken care of. Trust me… don’t worry, we are all fine… mentally, physically, when some people love us… trust me we are those few people. Working hard for this, and also try to add more in that box… everything will be fine, it’s just bad timing, give us a chance everything will be fine in a few days”
He concluded his statement with a message of reassurance and gratitude. “Thank you to all concerned… I am truly grateful… I am here and so is love… our baby… and we will do what is right and only right in the end… trust us… smile more and love only with love” “Don’t worry about anything now… and stop tagging me in random people’s posts asking what they want… I have said what had to be said from my side”
There has been debate all around ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarkar’ Continuing, Rakshita’s comments have added another dimension to the discussion – raising questions about the growing sensitivity of audiences, the industry’s double standards and the line between criticism and online abuse.
