Mangali said on Instagram Stories that the song has been removed from all platforms in response to public sentiment. She wrote that she sincerely apologized for the unintentional mistake and acknowledged the concerns raised by viewers.
Addressing the feedback further, Mangali said that the team has already improved the lyrics of the song. He said the intention was never to hurt anyone’s sentiments and he regretted the mistake. According to their statement, a revised version of the song with updated lyrics will be released later today.
He also assured the audience that steps have been taken to prevent such issues in the future. In her note, Mangali thanked the film’s producers and music director Arjun Gyan and said that she respects him a lot.
Controversy over the song erupted earlier this month when audiences flagged its Hindi version for its double meaning. The lyrics were criticized for describing sexual acts before shifting to a metaphor involving a wine bottle. Amid the backlash, the Hindi version was removed from YouTube.
Lyricist Raqib Alam had earlier stated that he had not originally written the lines, but under contract he was required to provide literal translations of the Kannada lyrics written by director Prem.
Nora Fatehi also addressed the issue, saying that she had shot the song three years ago and at that time she did not understand the Kannada lyrics. He further alleged that the Hindi version and some AI-generated scenes were released without his approval.
