Ekta R Kapoor joins hands with The Viral Fever for upcoming folklore-based thriller WeavingIn which Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia are in the lead roles. The makers have now set the theatrical release date of the film as August 28, 2026, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.

Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with TVF, the film is directed by Arunabh Kumar and Deepak Mishra. This collaboration marks a remarkable partnership between Balaji Motion Pictures and TVF as they explore cinematic narrative based on folklore with a massive visual treatment.
Prime Video has acquired post-theatrical rights
The release date announcement comes shortly after Prime Video confirmed it had acquired post-theatrical streaming rights Weaving During its It Starts Here event. The film’s teaser was also screened exclusively for audiences at the event, offering an early glimpse of the project’s visual tone and narrative world.
Speaking earlier about the film, Ekta R Kapoor said, “Indian folklore has been a part of all of us. Now the time has come for us to bring a cutting-edge VFX heavy and big screen experience. Weaving “Is going to be a whole new genre-breaker.”
Sidharth Malhotra also shared his experience of collaborating with the producer in the film. He said, “This is mine and Ekta’s third project together and she is most excited about it Weaving. I have never had a producer who could narrate a film to me from beginning to end.”

Talking about the casting, Ekta Kapoor added a light-hearted note about working with Tamannaah Bhatia and said, “My heart’s desire has been fulfilled!”
Tamannaah Bhatia also talked about sharing the screen with Sidharth Malhotra and her connection with the field of film storytelling. She said, “Working with Sid was a long, long dream and I’m so glad I got the chance to work with him. He’s a really good actor.”
She further added, “I have grown up watching commercial films. Weaving Is in the same field and also has a strong spirit. Our Indian folk songs are also at the forefront in this. It is a masala film that will leave you emotional at the end. This was something I was missing when I went to theatres.
