Mammootty and Mohanlal starrer Patriot was earlier scheduled to release in theaters on April 23, 2026. However, now it appears that fans may have to wait a little longer to see the two superstars share the screen, as the film has been postponed to a new date.
Mammootty and Mohanlal’s Patriot not releasing on April 23
On official social media handles, Patriot Producer Anto Joseph of Anto Joseph Film Company confirmed that the team has decided to postpone the release of the film from April 23, 2026.
In a note written in Malayalam, the producer wrote, “Dear dear, we are working hard to bring Patriot to you in the best possible quality. However, due to unexpected circumstances, we are forced to postpone the release of the film by a few days from the originally scheduled date of April 23.”
He further added, “The official announcement of the new release date of the film will be made tomorrow at 6 pm through the official social media pages of our beloved Mammukka and Laleton. We will continue to seek your love and support.”
Earlier, the film was blacklisted from release by the exhibitors’ association in Kerala, which had already hinted at a possible postponement. Now, along with the official statement, the makers are expected to announce a new release date.
For those unaware, Patriot is an upcoming spy action drama that revolves around a controversial intelligence mission. with Mammootty And with Mohanlal leading the project, the film marks the reunion of these stalwarts of Malayalam cinema after almost a decade.
Apart from the two superstars, the film also stars Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Rajeev Menon, Revathi and others in lead roles. The film’s music and background score is composed by Sushil Shyam.
Mammootty and Mohanlal’s workfront
Mammootty recently completed the shooting of his film Padayatra directed by veteran filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan. Looking ahead, the actor is currently working on his part in the film D55 starring Dhanush.
Additionally, Mamukka has projects like Mattancherry Mafia, a film with Nitish Sahdev and another project in his lineup with Cubes Entertainment.
On the other hand, Mohanlal Currently filming for the tentative title L366 directed by Tharun Murthy. Leighton also has films with director Priyadarshan and director Vishnu Mohan. Additionally, he will play cameo roles in Jailer 2, Caliphate: Part 1, Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer and Thudakkam.
