the much awaited great creation Ramayana The most important element has finally been revealed – the first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram. Backed by filmmaker and producer Namit Malhotra and directed by Nitish Tiwari, the two-part cinematic franchise is being introduced globally, with the teaser giving audiences the first look at the iconic character.

Billed as a landmark cinematic moment, the ‘Ram’ teaser introduces one of mythology’s most enduring characters to audiences across the globe. The film aims to present the story with a fresh perspective while retaining the emotional depth that has made it timeless for generations.
Speaking about the essence of the story, Nitish Tiwari said, “The greatness of Ramayana lies in its emotional richness. At its core, it is not just about good and bad, but about the weight of choices, consequences and doing what is right. Ram’s journey is deeply human and that is what we have tried to stay true to.”
Sharing his experience of stepping into the role, Ranbir Kapoor said, “I don’t think I am here to represent Ram. I am here to learn from him. There is a simplicity and purity about him that is very rare; and trying to understand and assimilate it has been an extremely humbling experience.”
Producer Namit Malhotra elaborated on the importance of the character, saying, “The power of Ram’s story lies not in what he conquers, but in what he gives up. He represents a standard that is not easy, not convenient; but necessary. He chooses duty over desire, truth over comfort, and sacrifice over self. That’s why his story has endured for thousands of years, and that’s why it endures today.” also matters.”
The film has a large-scale cast, with Yash playing the role of Ravana, while Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Sunny Deol plays Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman. Apart from her, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Bobby Deol among others are also expected to be a part of this venture.
Adding to its global appeal, the project brings together international stalwarts including Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman for the music. The film is produced by Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with eight-time Academy Award winning VFX studio DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
Established as one of the most ambitious films of Indian cinema, Ramayana Will be released in two parts. The first installment is scheduled for global theatrical release during Diwali 2026, while the second part is expected to arrive in Diwali 2027.
