The trailer of Bhoot Bangla was launched on April 6, 2026. It has generated a lot of buzz on social media for its nostalgic appeal. The film marks the reunion of Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar, who is known for delivering popular comedies. It also brings together the familiar comic trio of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav. Now, in an exclusive interview with IHNS, Mithila Palkar, who plays Akshay Kumar’s sister in the film, reveals how she recreated the iconic ‘sister is scared’ meme, making it one of the highlights of the trailer.
Mithila Palkar on recreating the ‘Behen Darr Gayi’ meme with Akshay Kumar
Revealing the behind-the-scenes insight into recreating the popular meme of ‘Behen Dar Gayee’, Palkar shared, “The ‘Behen Dar Gayee’ joke was not part of the script. Akshay sir and I had done several takes for the scene, and during the last take, Akshay sir walked up to Priyadarshan sir behind the camera and had a private conversation about which none of us on the set were aware. When the camera turned on and I said my dialogue, I was completely surprised. Akshay sir responded with the hilarious ‘sister got scared’ dialogue.”
The actress further added, “While the improvisation made me cautious, I tried my best and kept a straight face as the scene demanded, and didn’t give in to the funny moment. It was only after Priyan sir said cut that I learned that the OG Bhagam Bhag duo of Akshay sir and Priyan sir had decided off-camera to make their iconic dialogues fit seamlessly into the scene. It was really a learning experience for me as an actor to see such situational comedy fit seamlessly into the scene.” The moment was the scene.”
Palkar and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s sweet social media joke
Mithila recently took to her Instagram to share a lesser known fact about her casting in the film. The actress shared that she was cast in the film because of the recommendation of Priyadarshan’s daughter Kalyani Priyadarshan. Mithila wrote on social media, “An opportunity I never imagined for myself. So grateful to @kalyanpriyadarshan without whom this idea wouldn’t have come to fruition! A girl’s girl. And Priyan sir, thank you for the trust! I can’t tell you how priceless it feels to be a part of your film industry! Forever grateful! And to our audience – so much love on the trailer! Ouch! Thank you! Can’t wait for you guys to watch the film.” Responding to Mithila, Kalyani wrote, “Listen! I just told my dad I’m a fan! I didn’t do anything else. And I can’t wait to see you in the film!”

Bhoot Bangla is all set for its paid previews on April 16 from 9 PM onwards, followed by the theatrical release on April 17, 2026.
