A joint team of Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force and Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested a suspect in the shooting case outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence earlier this year. The accused has been identified as Pradeep Kumar, also known as Gath. He was arrested from Chhadami Matha area on Agra-Etah road under Bah police station area of Agra.

The shooting incident took place in February outside Shetty Tower, the filmmaker’s residence in Juhu, Mumbai. The gunmen opened fire on the building and the bullets hit the glass railing of his balcony. There is no information about anyone being injured in the incident. Security was increased outside the residence immediately after the attack.
According to police officials, this firing was allegedly done on the instructions of Shubham Lonkar gang. Its motive was said to be extortion and an attempt to spread fear within the film industry and among the public.
Police said the arrest took place after technical analysis and intelligence sharing between the Mumbai Crime Branch and Uttar Pradesh STF. This operation was conducted under the supervision of Rakesh, Additional Superintendent of Police, STF Field Unit in Agra.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to his role in the crime. He also told the names of his friends Sunny, Deepu and Sonu. Police said the group wanted to establish dominance in the underworld. After the arrest, Pradeep Kumar was handed over to the Mumbai Police team at Bah police station.
The case was registered in February under several sections of the Indian Justice Code, Arms Act, Maharashtra Police Act and Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act. Police said Pradeep Kumar is the latest accused to be arrested in the case. Earlier, eight people had been detained, including Pradeep Sharma alias Golu, Deepak and Vishnu Kushwaha.
A few weeks after the incident, Shetty shared a light-hearted post on social media that appeared to reference the situation. He wrote, “Spent so many years making action and comedy films, now action and comedy are going on in my life itself.”
The filmmaker is currently busy shooting for breakup 5. The project began on March 14, 2026, his 52nd birthday. The announcement confirmed the return of Sharman Joshi as Laxman and also revealed that Akshay Kumar has joined the cast.
