Shraddha Kapoor, Nora Fatehi acquitted in 2022 drugs case as police found no evidence: Report

The case dates back to August 2022, when alleged drug smuggler Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh was arrested by the Crime Branch and Anti-Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Police. Mephedrone worth Rs 1.19 lakh was recovered during the operation. During interrogation, Sheikh claimed that he had supplied drugs at parties attended by many public figures, leading to several names being mentioned in the investigation.

In 2025, some named people, including Shraddha Kapoor and Nora Fatehi, were questioned by the Anti-Narcotics Cell as part of the investigation. However, according to a report in the Indian Express, investigators have not found any physical evidence to establish links between these individuals and the alleged drug supply network.

The report quoted a source as saying that the police have completed their investigation and are preparing to file a supplementary charge sheet. “A preliminary charge sheet was filed against three people, and now a supplementary charge sheet will be filed against the two arrested accused and other wanted accused. We do not have enough evidence yet to link the celebrities to the case,” the source said.

This development has effectively brought clarity to the case which had attracted significant attention due to the involvement of well-known names from the film industry and public life. While the investigation against the accused persons directly linked to the drug supply chain is ongoing, their names have been dropped from further proceedings due to lack of evidence against the celebrities.

Responding to the update, Orhan Avtramani addressed the issue on social media. Sharing a screenshot of the news report, he wrote, “Where are all those clickbaiting jealous virgins who highly sensationalized this and dragged my good name for weeks?” His response reflects the disappointment expressed by those who were publicly associated with the case during its early stages.
