Businessman Raj Kundra has issued a fresh public statement amid the ongoing legal proceedings related to the 2021 pornography case, saying that the arguments on his behalf have now concluded in the lower court. Taking to Twitter, Kundra said that his lawyer Prashant Patil has completed his arguments after four years of hearing.
After the court arguments in the ongoing pornography case ended, Raj Kundra said, ‘Delay in justice is equal to no justice’
In his post, Kundra expressed frustration over the length of the process and the impact it has had on his personal and professional life. He wrote, “It has been four long years in the trial court in the ongoing pornography case. Today, my lawyer Prashant Patil completed our arguments. If I am guilty, I stand by the truth, punish me. If not, acquit me, my freedom and dignity have been taken away by the constant media trial. Justice delayed is justice denied. #Justice.”
The case dates back to July 2021, when Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in connection with charges related to creation and distribution of obscene content through mobile applications. Investigators had alleged that some of the apps were being used to stream or broadcast explicit content. Kundra denied wrongdoing at the time and said the material in question did not fall under the category of pornography as alleged by the authorities.
He was later granted bail by a Mumbai court after spending almost two months in judicial custody. Since then, proceedings in the case have continued, with several hearings held over the years.
In his latest remarks, Kundra indicated that prolonged legal uncertainty could affect not only the accused but also their families, careers and public reputation. Criticizing the delay, he also said he had confidence in the judicial system and said he was ready to accept the outcome of the case.
Kundra has previously spoken out about the media coverage surrounding the case, particularly reports that also mentioned his wife, actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra. Earlier, he had objected to what he described as speculation and sensationalist stories and said the matter should be dealt with as a legal issue rather than a public entertainment.
The businessman has consistently maintained that his family has supported him through the legal process. His latest statement appears to underline his demand for closure of the case, either through a conviction if found guilty or an acquittal if the court finds no grounds to proceed.
At present, the court is expected to consider the arguments placed before it and pass further orders in due course. No final decision has been announced yet. Given the public profile of those involved, the case continues to attract attention while the legal process continues.
