i will come back It had a slow start at the box office but the week’s trends made it clear that the film is ready to be told. On its second Friday, the Imtiaz Ali directed film collected Rs. 2 crore, which was more than its previous Friday (Rs 1.28 crore). Meanwhile, the film is earning tremendously on its ninth day i.e. second Saturday. The exhibition area is encouraged by the response and has added morning shows.
I’ll Be Back went on overdrive the other Saturday; Exhibitors add 2 a.m. and morning shows; Cinepolis adds 30% more shows; The number doubled in one day in West Bengal
and that’s not all. PVR C&B Square in Mumbai will show the film at 2:00 am on Sunday, June 21, while PVR Nexus in Bengaluru has decided to show the film at 6:50 am. This show is already filling up fast. According to trade sources, more and more theaters are adding early morning and after midnight shows as the demand for the film is clearly there.
exhibitors excited
Gautam Dutta, CEO – Revenue & Operations, PVR Inox Limited, said, “What we are keeping a close eye on i will come back It’s the shape of its trajectory, not just the topline box office numbers. Film has grown consistently throughout the week, which is exactly the kind of trend exhibitors like to see, as it reflects genuine and sustained audience interest rather than a front-loaded opening. This is a rare and encouraging sign, indicating that the film’s momentum is being driven by strong word-of-mouth around Imtiaz Ali’s story, Naseeruddin Shah’s powerful performance and AR Rahman’s memorable score, rather than promotional hype. Despite new competition entering theaters this week, the film is outperforming its first week levels, demonstrating remarkable staying power. For a niche, content-driven segment drama, this kind of sustained audience attraction is the hallmark of slow-burn success. We remain optimistic about its performance in the second weekend and beyond.”
Ritesh Arora, Programming Head, MovieMax, revealed, “Though the film had a slow start last week, it witnessed an impressive turnaround with a steady improvement in weekday collections. The momentum continued into the weekend as well, with shows being houseful and additional screenings being added to meet the growing demand from audiences.”
“Cinepolis India, which operates 497 screens across the country, has increased shows by 30% from Friday to Saturday due to the growing demand and rapid recovery across the country,” said Devang Sampath, managing director of Cinepolis.
Satdeep Saha, the film’s distributor in West Bengal, shared, “On Friday, it had 24 shows. Now, it is running in more than 50 shows and for Sunday it will be more than 75 shows. This clearly shows how much demand the film has created.”
