Tomorrow, was the first to inform readers that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has passed Alpha With U/A 16+ certificate. In this article, we will specifically focus on the cuts given in the Alia Bhatt-Sharvari starrer.
Exclusive: CBFC censors multiple stabbing scenes in Alpha; removes dirty words
The good news is that the CBFC scrutiny committee has asked for very few amendments. To start with, the producers were asked to rework the disclaimer at the beginning of the film. Subtitles were added for all songs. The producers, Yash Raj Films (YRF), were also asked to mention the opening card and the ending scroll in the applicable language i.e. Hindi.
Now coming to the deduction. Scenes from a scene in the first part of Alpha Were cut down and replaced with alternate scenes. However, no details were given about these scenes. A similar deduction was made on another point in the first half. In the second part, several stabbing scenes were asked to be reduced and replaced with alternative scenes. Finally it was asked to remove an indecent word in the first part.
The CBFC scrutiny committee asked the producers to insert anti-alcohol static in all scenes of alcohol consumption. Finally, as per the rules, the makers were asked to submit the consent letter of the child artiste’s parents.
Once these changes have been made, the creators of Alpha Censor certificate was handed over on 29 June. The length of the film as mentioned on the censor certificate is 140.48 minutes. In other words, Alpha 2 hours, 20 minutes and 48 seconds long.
Yesterday, IHNS also exclusively reported that the first part of Alpha Is 1 hour, 13 minutes and 32 seconds long. The run time of the second half is 1 hour, 7 minutes and 16 seconds.
