Reportedly, the sea-facing property in Bandra owned by Salman Khan’s family has moved one step closer to redevelopment. While speculations have surfaced that the actor may eventually move from his longtime residence at Galaxy Apartments, neither Salman Khan nor his family have officially confirmed any plans to move in.

According to a report in India Today, the Bandra property has been a part of the Khan family’s real estate portfolio for over a decade and was not purchased recently. The property is back in the spotlight after the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) recommended its redevelopment proposal, allowing the project to proceed to the next stage of approvals.
MCZMA recommends redevelopment proposal
According to the report, the proposal was discussed during the 198th meeting of the MCZMA held on June 16. Minutes of the official meeting obtained by the publication reportedly state that the project involves the redevelopment of a residential estate in Bandra (West), where an old structure previously stood. The existing structure has already been demolished after obtaining necessary permissions.
The Khan family is now reportedly planning to build a six-storey sea-facing residence on the plot.
The proposal has received a recommendation from MCZMA from the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) perspective. Now it will be sent to the concerned planning authority for further statutory approval before the construction starts.
The property falls under CRZ-II category
According to reports, the property is located in the CRZ-II area, where redevelopment is permitted under the existing rules.
The authority had also sought clarification regarding the ownership of the land. After the project proponents submitted the required documents, the proposal was recommended for further consideration.
However, the recommendation does not equate to final approval, and the project is subject to compliance with all applicable statutory requirements.
There is no confirmation on Salman Khan shifting from Galaxy Apartment
The redevelopment has once again fueled speculations that Salman Khan and his family may eventually shift from Galaxy Apartments to the new residence once the construction is completed.
However, sources quoted by India Today reportedly clarified that the Bandra property has belonged to the Khan family for many years and is only now entering the redevelopment phase. There is currently no specific timeline for the construction of the new bungalow, nor has the family announced any plans to move from Galaxy Apartments.
The latest development comes more than two years after the firing incident outside Galaxy Apartments in April 2024, following which security was significantly tightened around Salman Khan’s residence.
On the professional front, Salman Khan is currently shooting for his upcoming film directed by Vamshi Paidipally. The film also stars Nayanthara and is produced by Dil Raju. Apart from this his film HomelandDirected by Apoorva Lakhia, there is no official release date yet.
