Ayesha Khan, who recently sang the special song ‘prank‘ From stalwarthas claimed that he was detained by Mumbai Police while attempting to participate in a student protest in Dadar on Wednesday. The actor later shared the video and detailed his experience via Instagram, alleging that he and his friends were forcibly taken into police custody despite not having started the protest.

According to Ayesha, she reached Dadar around 4 pm to extend her support to the student protests that had spread to Mumbai. She said that before she could raise any slogan or start the protest, a police officer informed her that protests were not allowed at that location. When he asked, “What other option is there,” he claimed, the situation deteriorated rapidly.
In a video statement shared on Instagram, Ayesha alleged that around 15 police personnel, including male and female officers, surrounded her group and directed them to board the police van. She further claimed that when they protested, they were forcibly taken into the vehicle.
Describing the incident, Ayesha said, “I was pulled by 4-5 women. I tried with all my might to try not to get into the van, but they pulled us inside. Throughout the van we keep asking why have you detained us? What mistake have we done? No answer, no accountability, nothing. No one gave any answer and brought us to Worli, away from Dadar.”
He said that officials at the Worli police station treated him respectfully, yet received no explanation for his detention. According to Ayesha, her primary question is why she and others were detained even before they started the protest.
In another Instagram post, Ayesha shared a video that showed her being pushed into a police van during the incident. Along with the clip, he wrote, “Dragged, detained, for standing peacefully. Asked questions to all the policemen present there, why are we being detained? But got no answer! When did standing on the road become a crime? Today will be the most peaceful sleep of my life. I was standing for what was right! Still asking the same questions at the police station! Why have I been detained? What law have I broken? Forget about someone’s democratic right, his Protecting, instead you are hurting yourself.” Citizens, for what? I see shame in some of their eyes, but they are bound by their duties, they know, we know, what is right and what is wrong. Our stand is clear. “I still have hope everywhere, we will see a better future.”
The protests in Mumbai are part of a wider wave of student protests that began in New Delhi and have now spread to several cities across the country. The protesters are demanding accountability and have also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Protests have taken place at several places in Mumbai, including Shivaji Park and Chaityabhoomi, with some protesters claiming that they were detained before reaching the protest sites.
