Mrunal Thakur, Adivi Shesh, Anurag Kashyap and Zayn Marie Khan attend the trailer launch of the Hindi version of their film Dacoit: A Love Story In Mumbai. The film is not dubbed in Hindi and is shot in Telugu as well as Hindi. Adivasi Shesh explained the reason behind this and he remembered the film starring Akshay Kumar pad man (2018), based on the incredible life of Arunachalam Muruganantham.
Adivasi Shesh credits Akshay Kumar’s PadMan for Dacoit’s Hindi-Telugu strategy: “It was a Tamil story and yet it was set in Madhya Pradesh”.
Adivasi Shesh started by saying, “In America people wear black clothes at funerals. people wearing glasses Silently have memorized. But in India we wear white clothes and cry loudly while mourning. So, it is a cultural thing and there are cultural nuances in it. This is how we changed the song ‘Chichubuddy’ To ‘Touch Buddy’ For Hindi audience. The Hindi song was a mix of Bhojpuri flavor of Pawan Singh and urban flavor of Jonita Gandhi. This is an example of things we did in a really fun, practical way.
He further added, “As far as the story is concerned, I had watched a lovely movie called Padman. I was very impressed by its story and I researched on it. That’s when I came to know that it is a Tamil story. It surprised me that ‘we Tamil story Hindi audience’ Why can’t it be shown?? For him Madhya Pradesh I set What to do? is necessary?’. After all, it is based on true events.”
Adivasi Shesh further added, “So, I thought of setting a story on the badlands of the Andhra Pradesh-Karnataka border and making the film in authentic Hindi cinema style. I believe that if done right, it will reach out to the people of the North and For them film You will feel familiar after seeing it. I experienced it firsthand when we launched ‘Touch Buddy’ In Gorakhpur. He was speaking the dubbed Hindi dialogues of my film. I didn’t even know he was mine film Of Dubbed dialogues Is (Smile). Some of them confessed, ‘You are speaking in our language. yes us Adored’. Suddenly, I became their hero (and not any other industry’s hero). That’s why we want to do justice to our vision authentically in Telugu and Hindi as well.
Dacoit: A Love Story Will be released in theaters on April 10.
