Allegations of communal politics and distortion

In a strongly worded official statement, the group hit out at both the film producer and the lead actor. The group announced that it “strongly condemns the recent attempt by Neeraj Yadav and actor Ajay Devgan to appropriate the name of Chauhan dynasty for contemporary communal politics.” The organization underlined the historical significance of the lineage, saying, “The Chauhans are a historic Rajput (Kshatriya) clan whose legacy belongs to history, not partisan campaigns or manufactured media controversies.”

The organization expressed disappointment that Rajput culture is being dragged into modern public controversies without their consent. “It is extremely unfortunate that Rajput identity is once again being dragged into a political narrative which Rajputs neither initiated nor wanted,” the statement said. He further said that at a time when community voices are under-represented in mainstream discourse, “invoking the name of the Rajput clan merely to provoke outrage, stoke caste and communal sentiments or generate political spectacle is both irresponsible and insulting.”

Criticizing the film’s premise, Kshatriya Parishad argued that the creative choices reflected a lack of historical awareness. The organization highlighted, “Such attempts also reflect deep ignorance of Indian history. The subcontinent’s past cannot be reduced to simplistic communal binaries.”

According to the Council, these historical examples prove that “medieval political alliances were shaped by statecraft, loyalty, and military strategy – not by the sectarian narratives imposed on them today.”

Demanding creativity with responsibility

Concluding its notice, the Kshatriya Council clearly opposed using heritage for modern ideological gain. The organization said it “rejects every attempt to weaponize Rajput history or proper Rajput identity for electoral or ideological purposes.” He declared that public memories should not become a tool of social division, calling on “political actors, filmmakers and media organizations to engage responsibly with India’s past and respect the historical complexity rather than exploiting Rajput heritage for divisive political debate”.

The producers and the actor have not yet publicly responded to the statement.
