In an important judicial judgment, the Delhi High Court has provided interim security to Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, stopping various parties from using their name, image, equality or other personal characteristics without their consent. Justice Tejas Karia said in a pre-party advertising prohibitory verification that such unauthorized exploitation violates their personality rights and violates the rights of privacy and dignity.

The order of the court specifically prevents abuse through any medium, including artificial intelligence, generic AI, face morphing, deepfech and machine learning. The defendants have a list of known and unknown institutions (including “John Do” defendants), alleging exploitation of opinion identity for commercial advantage without the authority.
The Google LLC is directed to remove and block the URL identified within a 72 -hour notice. In addition, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) has to issue instructions to disable all violations within seven days.
The court said, “If the personality rights of individuals, directly, then the image, name, equality or other characteristics of individuals, the right to control and protect the exploitation of individuals, in addition to commercial benefits, which can be obtained from the same. Personality can be located in autonomy about the equality of other characteristics of individuals.”
The court said, “In other words, there may be two aspects in unauthorized exploitation of a person’s personality characteristics – first, violation of their right to protect their personality characteristics from commercially exploitation, and second, violation of their right to privacy, which in turn reduces their right to live with gardener.”
In his judgment, Justice Karia “misused the name of the plaintiff, image, equality and other elements of the personality of the plaintiff.
The court has determined further proceedings: an attendance before the Joint Registrar on November 7, 2025 and a complete hearing on 15 January 2026.
