Nampally court on Monday adjourned hearing in the evening theater stampede case related to the premiere screening of Pushpa 2: Rules In December 2024 in Hyderabad. Actor Allu Arjun, who was directed to appear before the court in person, joined the proceedings virtually after obtaining permission from the court. The case has now been posted for July 6 after all the accused named in the charge sheet did not appear in the court.

Allu Arjun seeks permission for virtual appearance
The court had earlier issued summons to all the 23 accused named in the case, including Allu Arjun, who has been listed by the police as accused number 11 (A11).
According to his legal team, the actor had sought permission to appear through video conferencing as he is currently shooting for a film in Mumbai. Confirming the development, his lawyers told ANI, “He will appear virtually in the Nampally Court after the court issued summons to him to appear in person today. Allu Arjun had sought the permission citing his ongoing film shooting in Mumbai.”
Hearing postponed due to absence of some accused
Advocate Bhanu Chander, representing the Sandhya Theater management, spoke to the media outside the court and explained why the proceedings could not proceed. He said, “I have come here to represent A1 to A10 (theater management and partners) in the PRC (Preliminary Related Case) Crime No. 376 of 2024 of 2026. Today there is an appearance before the Magistrate at Nampally for filing the commitment bond.”
Providing an update on the court proceedings, Chander said, “But out of the 23 members (total accused listed in the police chargesheet), 21 or 22 have appeared; one or two are absent. That is why it has been posted for July 6 for the next stage of registration of the SC sessions case. For the next hearing, all the 23 members should appear before the court together.”
After this the court adjourned the case till July 6.
Background of Stampede in Evening Theater
The case stems from a tragic incident that occurred during a special screening on December 4, 2024 Pushpa 2: Rules At Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad. The event was attended by Allu Arjun, his family members and the team of the film. A huge crowd gathered outside the theater to get a glimpse of the actor. As the crowd moved forward, a stampede-like situation occurred. A 35-year-old woman, Revathi, lost her life in the incident, while her eight-year-old son Shretej was seriously injured and had to be admitted to hospital.
