Actress Ameesha Patel has reacted strongly to comedian Zakir Khan’s comment that Bollywood is “jealous” of the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, saying the industry has always celebrated major achievements and not been jealous of them.
Ameesha Patel criticizes Zakir Khan’s ‘jealous Bollywood’ claim: ‘SRK, Salman, Sunny have given 25+ hits’
The controversy began when Zakir Khan, while hosting an awards ceremony, joked that the film’s underwhelming box office performance had upset some sections of the industry. His comments immediately sparked reactions online and in film circles. Responding to the statement, Ameesha dismissed the notion of jealousy and termed it as unnecessary negativity. “Man, stop spreading negativity! The film industry has valued and respected Dhurandhar,” he said, emphasizing that the film has received wide appreciation from peers.
He highlighted the long-standing legacy of Bollywood’s biggest stars to refute the claim. Ameesha said, “Superstars like SRK, Salman, Sunny, Hrithik, Ajay have given not just one but more than 25 mega hit films and will continue to give more.” He emphasized that success is nothing new for the industry. Referencing the continuing influence of previous blockbuster films, he commented, “Gadar bahus saanos se sabne already machaai hai aur aage bhi machaayenge,” reinforcing his point that multiple generations of actors have consistently delivered major hits.
Ameesha’s reaction comes amid the ongoing discussions surrounding Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which has emerged as a critical success at the box office and sparked conversations about competition and recognition within Bollywood. While Zakir’s comments were meant to be humorous, they appear to have struck a chord, forcing the industry giant to clarify their stand.
