It is known that according to New York County court records, Amy Schumer chose to go official with the divorce by filing papers on Tuesday, January 6. The two shared their decision to go their separate ways with a note from the 44-year-old actress on her Instagram account. “Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” she wrote at the time. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.”
Subsequently, he confirmed that the two of them have “cordial and complete love and respect! Family forever”. She also joked about the situation, explaining that her decision was not because she had “dropped a few pounds and thought I could take the basket, and not because she’s a hot genalmes (sic) beard award-winning chef who can still pull some hot tails,” instead seeing the positives in the matter.
Earlier, sources close to the couple had confirmed to the media that their decision was ‘harmonious’ and not the result of any ‘ugly’ incident. In the past, she has shot down any rumors of a separation with witty Instagram updates, including the moment she confidently announced in November, “Chris and I are still married.”
