Talks with Anil Kapoor to play villain role in Jr NTR starrer Dragon, release may be delayed: Report
According to a report in Mid-Day, Anil Kapoor is currently in talks to join the film as the lead antagonist. Although there has been no official confirmation from the makers, reports suggest that discussions are going on. The actor and the director were also recently spotted in Mumbai, where they are believed to have met for preliminary talks related to the project.
The same report indicates that its release may be pushed to late 2026 to better align with the scale of the film. Python It was initially scheduled to be released in June 2026.
Interestingly, earlier this year, in January, Anil Kapoor had hinted at being associated with the project. Sharing the poster of the film on Instagram Stories, he wrote, “One has landed… the other two are in the queue… #Dragon.” He had also hinted that he and Jr. NTR would also collaborate on another project, which would mark their third collaboration.
The film stars Rukmini Vasanth in the lead role and is billed as a large-scale action entertainer.
Recent reports have also pointed towards possible changes in the creative direction of the film. This has come to light quoting a source IHNSJr NTR is keen to make the film better. “NTR wants Python To succeed at any cost. He’s willing to go the extra mile to make sure it’s perfect. Whatever Prashant has shot so far, NTR does not dislike it. But he thinks it could be better. He wants the content to be better than what it is now. They may also re-shoot some already filmed portions,” claimed the source.
It is unclear whether Prashanth Neel will revisit parts of the film as suggested.
