This is the sequel to the movie stalwartDirected by Aditya Dhar, which released on December 5, 2025 and emerged as a major success at the box office. The scale of the first installment and its cast have contributed significantly to the anticipation surrounding the sequel.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Kapoor shared that Dhar had approached him for a small role in the upcoming film. However, the actor said that he has already promised his dates to some other filmmaker.

“Yes, Aditya came to me Dhurandhar 2. He wanted me to do a small cameo in the film. But whatever I am today is because of my professionalism and my commitment. This is very important – talent alone cannot make you who you are,” Kapoor said.

Explaining why he rejected the role, the 69-year-old actor said, “At that time, I had already handed over those dates to another filmmaker. I told Aditya, ‘I would love to do this cameo, but I am already committed.’ He is releasing the film now and it is a great film. It’s my loss, but that’s okay. So yes, they offered me the role, and hopefully we’ll work together in the future.

Following his revelation, social media users started speculating whether Kapoor was approached to play the role of the mysterious character ‘Bade Saheb’, whose identity is expected to be revealed in the sequel. Emraan Hashmi is also rumored to be attached to the role, although the makers have not confirmed any details.

Dhurandhar: Revenge It stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. The cast includes Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Akshaye Khanna. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on March 19, 2026.
