Anurag Kashyap’s globally acclaimed neo-noir thriller Kennedy has achieved another significant milestone, becoming the only Indian film selected for the inaugural lineup of Letterboxd’s first video store. This development marks a major moment for Indian cinema, as the film joins the carefully curated list of international titles on the global movie search platform.

Letterboxd will officially launch its online rental platform, Video Store, on December 10th. The service will offer a selection of acclaimed films, including festival favorites and Academy Award submissions that have remained inaccessible to mass audiences. Available in 23 countries at launch, the platform follows a transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) model, allowing viewers to rent movies without a subscription. One of nine featured titles featured in the debut lineup KennedyWhich premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023 and quickly became one of the most talked about Indian films on the international circuit.
Commenting on the news, Anurag Kashyap said, “I am happy that this film will finally be available to the general audience in some parts of the world. This is one of my most personal films and I would love to get the audience’s response and reaction, and I am grateful to Letterboxd for putting it on their new platform. And I hope we will be able to release it in India soon as well as the makers are working on it.”
Starring Rahul Bhatt and Sunny Leone, Kennedy Produced by Ranjan Singh, Good Bad Films and Zee Studios. Shot primarily at night across Mumbai during an intense 30-day schedule, the film tells the story of an insomniac former policeman, presumed dead, who continues to work within a corrupt system in search of personal salvation. Its moody visual palette and uncompromising narrative have earned it widespread critical attention.
Producer Ranjan Singh described the addition of Letterboxd’s video store as an important milestone for the team. After its Cannes premiere, Kennedy It screened at several major festivals including Sydney International Film Festival, Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival, MotelX in Lisbon, Indie Meme Film Festival in Austin, Indian Film Festival in Melbourne, London Indian Film Festival, Fantastic Fest in the US, Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival and Kolkata International Film Festival.
The film will be available on Letterboxd video stores in countries including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Switzerland.
