Ar Murugadoss is preparing for the release of his next film, Madharaasi, with Sivakarthikeyan in the main role. While the film should soon hit the big screens, the director revealed in an interview that he had initially planned to make an action film from Road-Trip “dry” with Thalapathy Vijay.
Did Ar Murugadoss plan to make a road-road film with Thalapathy Vijay?
In a conversation with Gobinath for behind the woods, Ar Murugadoss shared that he initially intended to make a film on road with elements of action “dry” after Thuppakki and Kaththi. However, the plans changed and they finally made sarkar instead.
According to his own words, “After Kaththhi, we thought of the kind of film to make together. I asked him (Thalapathy Vijay) if we could make a full dry film. I think I can talk about it now. The story was about a Sri Lankan Tamizhan who searched refuge in India and later in Thailand.”
“When he reached Thailand, he faced a new problem. Then he went to Canada and ended up being in London. It was a full travel film with the character with only a lungi and a shirt. A dry and intense action film without combat scenes.
The director continued explaining that Vijay then suggested making a political film, similar to Ramana, a film directed by Murugadoss himself with Vijayakanth in mind. This finally led to the creation of Sarkar.
The upcoming film of Thalapathy Vijay
Thalapathy Vijay recently completed the shooting of her next film, Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth. The film in Tamil is described as a drama of political action with the superstar playing the role of a former police officer.
The film, which would be Vijay’s latest film project before entering politics, presents Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol as co-chefs. The cast of the whole also includes Mamitha Baiju, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Narain and many others.
Jana Nayagan is planned for a theatrical outing on January 9, 2026, coinciding with the Pongal Festival.

The film presents Kantara Chapter 1 Fame Rukmini Vasanth as female manager with Vidyut Jammwal as the main antagonist.
