‘Assi’ directed by Anubhav Sinha collected Rs. 60-65 lakhs on the fourth day. This represents a decline of 35 per cent from its opening day, which is generally considered good, but not at this level of collections where you need to match the first day and even then that may not be enough. The total for four days was Rs. Approx Rs 4.75 crore nett.
The film needs to maintain the same momentum going forward and move ahead with the word of mouth publicity as the word-of-mouth seems to be positive. Based on current trends, the Taapsee Pannu starrer courtroom drama is set to open its opening week with around Rs. 6.50 crores or so.
Since there have been no significant releases till Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic, Anubhav Sinha’s film has a good scope to turn the tide in its favor. However, this will not be easy as the awareness about the film is still low among the audience.
Sinha and Taapsee’s previous collaboration was Thappad, which grossed around Rs. 13 crores in its opening weekend and then around Rs. 30 crores nett. This would be a good addition for such a film in today’s times as the theatrical business has severely declined since the rise of OTT in India. It will be interesting to see how Assi Aage performs at the box office and whether it turns out to be a success story or not.
The daily box office collection of Assi is as follows:
| Day | net |
| Friday | Rupee. 1 crore |
| Saturday | Rupee. 1.60 crore |
| sunday | Rupee. 1.50 crore |
| monday | Rupee. 0.65 crore (estimated) |
| Total | Rupee. 4.75 crores |
