The film tells the story of Sivudu, a young man from the tribal community who becomes worried after seeing a woman’s mask flowing from a waterfall. As he climbs the hill in search of her, he discovers that she is Avantika, a rebel.
After understanding his cause, Sivudu takes up the responsibility of fighting for the rebels and saving the imprisoned Queen Devasena. Upon rescuing her and returning to the rebel camp, Sivudu is faced with the truth that he is actually Mahendra Baahubali, the son of Amarendra Baahubali, the late prince of Mahishmati, and Devasena.
As he learns about his father and the tragedy that happened to him, the story focuses on his quest for revenge against the current king and his uncle, Bhallaladeva.

The film, written and directed by SS Rajamouli, is based on a story written by his father V. Vijayendra Prasad. The cinematic venture is produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banner of Arka Media Works.
The film’s music and background score is composed by MM Keeravani, while the cinematography is by KK Senthil Kumar. Editing is done by Vincent Tabaillon, Bikina Thammiraju and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao.
