Baramulla producer Aditya Dhar explains how real-life journeys shape a filmmaker’s stories: “Those who have had good life experiences become Sooraj Barjatya; tough life experiences make you Anurag Kashyap”

Along with Monal, Aditya Dhar is also one of the writers of the film. He explained, “For all of us filmmakers, whatever films we make, they all come from our past and our life experiences. Those who have good life experiences become Sooraj Barjatya! Those who go through difficult life experiences become Anurag Kashyap. So, Baramulla Being a Kashmiri this is something that is very personal to me. But the whole point was that many Kashmiri Muslims have also suffered losses. It would be absolutely wrong to say that only Kashmiri Pandits have felt the pain.

He further said, “I know many Kashmiri Muslims, who are my friends. They are in the police force and are doing fantastic work in Kashmir. Kashmir is one of the toughest places in India to become a police. You are not in danger of life like every other place in India. Kashmir is the only place in India where any terrorist can come and shoot you from behind. This does not happen anywhere else in the country. The policemen there are among the most patriotic people I have seen.”

Aditya Dhar further added, “I tried to tell this story where I connect the experience of Kashmiri Pandits and what these patriotic Kashmiri Muslims are experiencing right now, especially when the latter are being called traitors. It was a small idea and was written in 2016. As time passed I even forgot about it. When I tried to sell the script, so someone told me a lot ass money Proposal did theThen I made up my mind that I will not sell this subject at throwaway prices and will make this film in the right way.

Baramulla is backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios and will release on Netflix on November 7.
