Salman Khan-Host Reality Show Bigg Boss is known for promoting controversies inside the house. This time, however, the storm has hit its makers. India’s oldest copyright licensing organization Phoeographic Performance Limited (PPL) has issued a legal notice to the makers of the show, alleging unauthorized use of copyright music.

A source in the legal team told Mid-Day that both songs have been licensed to Sony Music Entertainment India, one of more than 450 music labels, whose public performance rights are specially managed by PPL. The organization argues that because Endemol Shine India did not obtain the required license under Section 30 of the Copyright Act, 1957, the Act forms the “Wilful violation”.

In the notice, PPL has demanded a loss of 2 crores, with the required license fee. The organization has also issued a conflict-and-existence order, stopping the producers from using its sound recording without a proper authority.

Vikas adds another layer of drama to the long -running reality series, which is currently in its 19th season. The show or its makers have yet to publicly respond to legal claims.
